Rheumatoid Arthritis
Acidity or Aam is the result of undigested food remaining in the digestive system. The food eaten is converted into nutrients that go to make the body strong and the undigested remnant part or mala. Both these parts may have undigested parts. The former is called Aam Ras or undigested food. This Aam Rasa spreads through blood veins causing heaviness in the body as also symptoms of laziness, indigestion etc. This happens owing to lack of digestive power. Affected by Vat Dosha, this Aam proceeds towards the stomach, heart, joints of the body and other Kafa spots. At these spots with the association of Shleshma lying there it gets further enhanced. This enrages Pitta enrages Vata Dosha also. Thus on account of adversely impacting the Srotas this goes on changing from one joint to another in the body. Due to Aam it causes swelling in the joints, disinterest in eating and a sense of heaviness.

Prior Conditions

In the first phase of this disease we have, symptoms of Aam arising other preconditions are laziness, pain in the body, excessive salivation, heaviness in the chest, stiffness in hands and feet. Besides these a few Vat-Indicating symptoms like irritability, lack of sleep etc are also seen. Common Symptoms Swelling in the joints, pain, numbnees, heat, redness, frequent thirst, laziness, indigestion, constipation etc.

Acute Stage

In the acute stage of this disease, the excessive pain is like the sting of scorpion bite. Some joints develop huge swelling. Along side this the patient develops deep disinterest in food and a sort of tastelessness on the tongue. Due to excessive thirst, heaviness in body, burning sensation and laziness, one finds his routine life difficult to lead. These symptoms get further heightened due to cloudy weather, winter season, constipation and mental stress conditions. Chronic State In its chronic, stage the above-mentioned symptoms become mild. However, the hands and feet bones develop a kind of deformity e.g. hand farther than the wrist becomes bent out-wardly, inflammation in the fingers of hands and feet.
